URJA DAKSH LED BULB UJALA YOJANA – Way towards an illuminating Madhya Pradesh

On Friday, Urja Daksh LED Bulb Ujala Yojana was inaugurated at CM residence by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister for Power, Piyush Goyal. Under this newly launched scheme by Madhya Pradesh Government, around 3 crore LED bulbs will be distributed across the state. The price of these bulbs will be decreased to Rs. 85 per bulb from its original expensive cost. The bulb under the URJA Daksh LED Bulb Ujala Yojana will come with a replacement warranty of 3 years. The minimum working capacity of the bulb would be 30,000 hours.
On January 2015, the National LED Program was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a target of replacing 77 crore incandescent lamps with LED bulbs. The program named UJALA (Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All) for the LED based Domestic Efficient Lighting Program (DELP) is currently running successfully in over 120 cities across India and more than 8 crore LED bulbs are already distributed. In 12 states of India namely Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttarakhand; this scheme is running successfully. Complementing the same, the Urja scheme now is going to trigger the target of distribution of 3 crore LED bulbs in MP state.
About Urja Daksh Led Bulb Ujala Yojana
The bulbs would be of 9 watts but they would be illuminating like 100 watt bulb and will increase the energy saving up to 91%. The power of 25 to 30 units could be saved every year and one could be benefitted with saving of Rs 150 to Rs 180 in a year. Through the medium of fixed distribution agents, these bulbs would be distributed and Government’s Energy Efficient Services Limited (EESL) will also help the state government in this regard.

Markets
Post offices
Power bills collection centers
Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited Vijendra Singh Sisodia informed to the press that “Solar pumps would also be provided to farmers soon and this will help them in evading the blues of power cut and non-availability of power. On no use of solar pumps in irrigation, solar energy could be used in other works such as lighting, battery charging and micro grid”.
The scheme would be implemented by corporation on no loss no profit basis and efforts are being made that Government and semi government officials shall purchase the LED bulb from corporation itself.
