PM pays tribute to Babasaheb
On 14 April 2016, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mhow, the birth place of Babasaheb. He paid tributes to the architect of Indian Constitution – Babasaheb at Ambedkar memorial. While celebrating the Ambedkar Jayanti, PM addressed a public rally at Aero Model Centre Ground, afterwards launched a government’s scheme – Gram Uday se Bharat Uday focuses on the development of villages.

Gram Uday campaign is a call for the nation-wide efforts to increase social harmony, strengthen panchayati raj, empowerment of women and elevate farmers in villages. This campaign would be held from 14 – 24 April 2016, all over the country. Under this campaign, between 14 & 16 April, a Social Harmony Program will be conducted and between 17 & 20 April, Village Farmer Assemblies will be organized in Gram Panchayats. Several schemes initiated by Government for farmers will be introduced to the villagers in these programs. Focusing on Panchayat and tribal development, on 19 April 2016 a national meeting of tribal women Gram Panchayat Presidents from Fifth Schedule Areas of 10 States will be conducted at Vijayawada. Across the country, from 21 to 24 April, various cultural and sports programs will be held in Gram Sabha meetings. The campaign will be concluded on 24 April 2016 with the celebration of Panchayati Raj Day at Jamshedpur. On this occasion, PM will address all the Panchayat representatives from across the nation.
